Q: Is there a folder size limit for Full- , Diamond- and Portable Encryption?
A: Full Encryption: No, but files in it cannot exceed 990MB.
Diamond Encryption: Yes, the folder cannot exceed 990MB.
Portable Encryption: Yes, the folder cannot exceed 990MB.
Password protection, Hiding protection and Full encryption are recommended if you want to encrypt large folders.
Q: Is there a folder size limit for Password protection and Hiding protection?
A: No. Password protection and Hiding protection feature fast protection and unprotection while taking no extra disk space, which is the best choice for protecting large folders. Besides, the Password-protected and Hidind-protected folders are prevented from copy, deletion and movement.
Therefore, they are very suitalbe to protect folders storing video files.
Q: How do the three folder encryption types differ from each other?
A: Diamond Encryption: Pack and encrypt a folder into an encrypted file with internationally mature encryption algorithm. Once a folder has been encrypted, no one can know what data is stored in a folder without decryption.
Full Encryption: Encrypt all files in a folder at one time with the internationally mature algorithm. Just open the file you want to use and enter the correct password. It's very convenient and safe. If you want to decrypt all files in a folder, right click on the folder, select "Decrypt all Full-encrypted Folder", enter your password in the pop-up window, and then click the Decrypt button.
Portable Encryption: Pack and encrypt a folder into an executable (.exe) file with internationally mature encryption algorithm. You can encrypt important files and folders with this method, and then send it over the network or by other means to be used on a machine where Best Encryption Expert is not installed.
Q: Can I encrypt folders on an external hard drive with Best Encryption Expert?
A: Yes. Best Encryption Expert allows you to encrypt files and folders stored on USB drives and external hard drives. The encrypted files and folders can be decrypted with the correct password on a computer wherer Best Encryption Expert is installed. If you want to use the encrypted data on a different computer without Best Encryption Expert, Portable Encryption is highly recommended.
Q: What will happen to my encrypted folders if the system is reinstalled or ghosted?
A: The encrypted folders still remain encrypted status and hold the original password once your system is reinstalled and ghosted. They can be opened and decrypted after you reinstall Best Encryption Expert. (To prevent any unexpected situations, we suggest you to decrypt those encrypted folders before performing any special operations)
Meanwhile, all data in the system disk (Disk C) will be lost after the system is ghosted or reinstalled. Therefore, do not store your important data in Disk C. If you have encrypted data in Disk C, decrypt it and then make a backup to another disk.
Q: Why do I set an admin password for Best Encryption Expert?
A: It is set to prevent others from encrypting your data with this software maliciously out of your control, and it enables you to uninstall the software in a general way.
Besides, an Admin password is a must for your access to First Aid Center or password recovery.
Q: Can those Password-protected folders be copied away by others?
A: No. The "folder" left after password protecion is just a shortcut about 1 KB in size. In fact, your folder is still protected and saved in the original disk partition. Even if this 1 KB file is copied away by others, your protected folder is still safely kept. Therefore, a Password-protected folder cannot be moved.
However, if you really want to move an protected folder, you are suggested to use Portable Encryption.
If you want to back up a Password-protected folder, please unprotect it first and then back up, otherwise what you back up is only a shortcut.
